New Legacy Community Church (formerly These Are They Community Church) was founded on Prayer in 1995 and it remains the cornerstone of which all other Ministries spring forth. Founded by Dr. Willie Bolden, he served as Senior Pastor, Teacher, Leader and humble Servant until 2012 when he moved on in his call as the first African American Executive Director of Community and Church Relations at Dallas Theological Seminary, Houston Branch.
For over 50 years he had a burning desire to see people experience the same personal relationship with Jesus Christ he had. That burning and infectious enthusiasm continued to characterize his life in Christ. Ministry to him was not viewed as an obligation but as an opportunity to give back to the Lord just a portion of what the Lord had given to him. God gave him the gifts of evangelism, teaching and preaching, and leadership.
Dr. Bolden’s life began July 4, 1950, and he departed this life for eternity on November 14, 2021. His life scripture was 1 Corinthians 10:31, “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”
We mourn, but not as those who have no hope, but those who expect to meet him again on that great resurrection day. His last charge to Pastor Bob Davis was “Move Forward.”
